Everyone grows older, and now technology is allowing us to grow older and live longer than the generations before. Already, the last of the baby boomers are turning 40, and by 2030 one in five people will be over 50. Health care for seniors is a major issue and questions about how to solve these health care needs are quickly becoming concerns.
The Geriatricians at OU MEDICAL CENTER
Trained to recognize the changes that are unique to seniors, a geriatrician specializes in mature adults and can perform health assessments or work alongside family doctors to coordinate treatment. The team of geriatricians at OU MEDICAL CENTER is from one of only six geriatrics departments in the nation. With physicians trained and board-certified in internal medicine, family practice and neurology with sub-specialties in geriatric medicine, they are the largest group of geriatricians in Oklahoma.
The Senior Class at OU MEDICAL CENTER
To educate and help improve the health of maturing adults, OU MEDICAL CENTER has created the Senior Class program. The Senior Class is a healthy lifestyle resource for aging adults. Through a series of physician-led seminars, social events, health screenings, newsletters and senior-specific health literature, the Senior Class hopes to assist aging adults in maintaining a healthy lifestyle by taking control of their current conditions and preparing for the years ahead.
